Fire!
Freeman Courier: Oct. 2, 1947

Last Thursday forenoon the fire whistle called the firemen to extinguish the fire in the Fred Haar store in the rear end of the office building that as used for a repair room and also storage room. The building was destroyed to such an extent that it will be wrecked and as soon as building material is available a new building will be erected.

The office will be moved over in the south building until a new building is erected. The Haar Implement has occupied this building since 1914 when they vacated the J.C. Neufeld location.

Freeman Courier: Oct. 16, 1947

Fred Haar Co. has a force of ten men of the Jamesville Colony employed in wrecking the building that was damaged by fire to such an extent that it must be wrecked and they are getting the south building ready to be occupied.

The Haars are well pleased with the work the ten men are doing and consider themselves very fortunate to get them because they are skilled in their line of work. The Haars and the colonies are lifelong friends, and a friend in need is a friend indeed.

One was asked to what union they belong and his answer was, to the Huterian union. This is a union organized in 1528, with a religious background, at first a group of a few hundred and now about 6,000. During these 419 years not one went to a state institution, they always take care of their members if disabled.
